Charm City Music Festival

This past Saturday was the "first annual" Charm City Music Festival.

The site was covered entirely in this dusty gravel. It got old.

Some facts: until 1985, the site was home to an AlliedSignal chrome processing plant where chrome ore was processed into chemicals containing chromium. In the 1980's, environmental studies confirmed that the soil and groundwater in the area were contaminated with chromium (think: Erin Brockovich), and in 1989, EPA and MDE ordered the clean up of the site. A cap to contain the pollutants was finished in 1999 ($100 million dollars later!), and now Exelon is eyeing the site for its future headquarters.

Interesting, huh?

Here are some of the articles I was reading while I wrote this: 1, 2, 3, 4.

It was hard to believe we were right downtown in Baltimore!

Blurry, I know. The main stage where Stephen Marley, Flogging Molly, and Weezer played. There was also a dance tent, crabs, and a free photo booth!
